CDAS Lite Storage and Retrieval System
(Compact Disc AutoServ)

Applied Mechatronics' CDAS Lite (Compact Disc AutoServ) is a CD-ROM File Cataloging and Retrieval software product that extends Sun Microsystems' CD-ROM support. CDAS Lite provides a common interface to 6-49 CD-ROM drives that may be configured in CD-ROM towers or arrays. CDAS Lite runs on Sun Microsystems servers and allows transparent access for DOS, Windows, Netware, OS/2, DEC VMS, MacOS and Unix clients. CDAS Lite allows the user to start small with as few as 6 CD-ROM drives in a single tower and grow to 49 CD-ROM drives in multiple towers or arrays.

CDAS Lite Components:

The CDAS Lite system consists of a CD-ROM tower or array configured with 6-49 CD-ROM drives, and a Sun Microsystems server running CDAS Lite software. CDAS Lite is customer configurable and supports commercially available SCSI CD-ROM drives.

CDAS Lite uses native Unix filesystems and provides the Systems Administrator an intuitive graphical user interface to control CDAS features, such as to restrict access to certain volumes, manage usage based on product licenses, or gather statistics on usage. CDAS Lite is a member of the CDAS family and offers a growth path to configurations containing up to 49 CD-ROM drives in an array, up to 7 jukeboxes (240 CD-ROM disc each) and more than 1TB of magnetic caching disk without having to replace client software.
